  • What do I need to create an app or website?

To create an app you need to have your idea, a business requirements document for that idea, and any content that you want us to use in the development process.

  • What should my business requirements include?

Your business requirements document should contain information about your business, the purpose of the app, the target audience, and what features and functionality you require the app to have. The business requirements document gives us an idea of how the app is going to fit into the bigger picture of your business, and what the look, feel, and flow of the app should be like.

  • How long does a project take to complete?

There’s no easy way to provide one answer that applies to every case. Every project is different, and the amount of time required to plan and make your app a reality will depend on the scope and size of the project. Web apps are often a bit simpler to produce and can be built using existing frameworks in a few months, whereas a mobile app typically needs to be built almost from scratch and can take anywhere from a few months to over half a year to plan and develop.

To find out how long it would take to get your specific app developed, get in touch with us today for a consultation and get an estimate for your app development project.

  • How much does it cost to have an app developed?

There’s no easy way to provide one answer that applies to every case. Every project is different, and the financial investment required to make your app a reality will depend on the scope and size of the project, as well as the resources and legal requirements associated with it. Web apps are often cheaper to produce and can be built using existing frameworks in a few months, whereas a mobile app typically needs to be built almost from scratch and requires a lot more work to develop.

At the lower end, a web app may be something your business could absorb costs for in a few short months, but at the higher end you may find the quote for your mobile app idea has a few zeroes attached to it.

To find out how much it would cost to get your specific app developed, get in touch with us today for a consultation and get an estimate for your app development project.

  • What support do I receive during the project?

If you're satisfied with the initial quoted estimate, then you'll be invited to come in for a project planning workshop before we even begin the actual work so we can make sure we're on the same page from the word go. We'll go over your app requirements, the scope and end goals, and the general user experience, so we can make sure you'll be getting precisely what you need, and how you need it.

For the duration of the project, you'll also be assigned a project manager who will keep you updated on development progress and any limitations, milestones, or suggestions.

  • Does my app idea already exist?

There's no easy answer for this, and it's impossible to know if your app idea is currently being developed by another company elsewhere. The best way to get an idea is to do a few cursory internet searches for terms such as "[IDEA] android", "[IDEA] apple store", and so on to see what turns up.

Don't be immediately disheartened if you discover an app already exists for your idea though. Often many apps exist for the same purpose, but with different and novel approaches that make them stand out: for instance Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are all social media platforms that provide vastly different experiences.

  • Why is an android app considered different from iOS if they do the same thing?

Much like the difference between Windows and Mac, the programming architectural structures behind the android and iOS operating systems are extremely different. All iOS apps are developed using Apple’s own programming language designed specifically for development of iOS systems and apps, while Android apps are developed using an open source programming language supported by Google.

As a result, the process for developing an app is vastly different between the two operating systems, and both require developers with knowledge of different coding languages, practices, and systems.

  • Should I develop in iOS, Android, or both?

It depends on your budget, your existing customer base, and the intended target market for your app, so you should do some research into the habits of your current customer base and any potential target customers if you're looking to expand.

If your customer base shows a strong trend of preference toward a particular operating system (e.g. if 80% of your customers are Android users) then it makes sense to only develop an Android app, since you can focus on building the best app possible, and you are far less likely to see a return on investment with an Apple version of the app.

  • How do I make my app profitable?

This is more of a marketing issue, and is something to try and establish before you submit your business requirements. You need to find a way to make your app stand out by providing some unique feature or experience that adds value and meets the needs of a customer that can't be found elsewhere.

If you can only afford one app and all other deciding factors are equal however, then it’s better to develop your app for iOS. Per year, Apple users on average spend twice as much on in-app purchases compared to Android users.

  • Is post release app support important?

In short, yes. After you release your app into the wild, your app will be exposed to the harsh and ever changing conditions of technological innovation. Hardware and software are constantly updating, and even the slightest change to an operating system or internet communication protocol can seriously impact the functionality of your app if it's not kept up to date.

  • How long does a website take to make?

There is no easy way to provide an answer to this question that applies to everyone unfortunately. Every website is different, and the amount of time required to plan and build a website depends on what features and level of customisation are required by the customer.

Custom websites will always take a bit longer to develop because of the additional work required to customise it as requested, and transferring existing material to a new website depends on a number of factors relating to the old website.

  • How to create better website than my competitors' ?

While better is somewhat subjective, you can create a site that is more user friendly and provides a superior user experience. Layout, accessibility, page loading times, and even the style used can all contribute to a user being able to navigate your website and find what they’re looking for more easily.

You can have the best content in the world, but if your site is poorly optimised, poorly laid out, and unappealing to look at, nobody is going to read it or click through your online store. When designing a website, it's important to take into consideration the design elements and the functionality of the website, and to create high quality content that works for what you've got.

  • What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. A short summary is that that SEO is the structure of your websites's text content that allows search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc, to efficiently find information relevant to particular user queries. For example doing a Google search for "what is SEO?" should find a page like this one based on the content within the page, and how helpful the content is to the user's query.
